1. Can you tell me about yourself?

  • While it’s acceptable to discuss your hobbies and interests during an interview, it’s best to keep such discussions brief. Instead, prioritize discussing related work experience as it can help you stand out from the competition.

2. Why do you want to work for Skechers?

Possible answers are 

  • Say you want to work in retail and you feel Skechers is a great place to grow your career. Mention you are impressed with the fact that Skechers is now the third-largest athletic footwear brand in the United States.
  • State you would be proud to work for Skechers after learning about the Skechers Foundation. Skechers and the Friendship Foundation host an annual walk to raise money for a nonprofit that helps connect special-needs students with their peers.

3. What hours can you work?

  • Try and be flexible when answering this question. The more relaxed you are with your hours, the better your chance of landing the job.
  • State that you understand if you need to work on weekends and holidays. 

4. What are your salary expectations?

  • This is a stressful question because if you ask for too much, you will not get the job and if you ask for too little, they will gladly underpay you.
  • Be sure to research salary expectations for your role before you go into the interview. There are plenty of sites that will discuss salary ranges.
  • If you don’t know what to say, ask what the salary range is?  You can then counter with the high end of the range.

  • Now the company is the third-largest athletic footwear brand in the United States,
  • Skechers earned more than $4.64 billion in revenues during the 2018 fiscal year. 
  • Today Skechers offers boots and skate shoes.
  • The company also offers athletic and casual styles for men women and children.

6. What is your greatest strength?

  • The best way to respond to this question is to describe the skills and experience you have that directly correlate with the job you are applying for. Therefore, review the job description and reassure the interviewer that you have the experience and skills to do the job.

7. What is your greatest weakness?

  • You should not deny that you have a weakness or state strengths as a weakness (I am a perfectionist or I work too hard and neglect my friends and family). Instead, think of a weakness that is required but not critical for the job and state that as your weakness.
  • When you state your weakness make sure you include what you are doing to overcome that weakness. For example, I have a fear of public speaking and enrolled in a public speaking class to overcome my fear.

Skechers Sales Associate Interview Questions 

1. Why do you want to be a sales associate? 

Possible answers are:

  • Say you are a good communicator which will allow you to work well in a team and with customers.
  • State you want a job that keeps you active

2. Why should we hire you as our sales associate? 

  • Say you have great people skills and will not have any issue making a connection with the customer and understanding his or her needs
  • Mention you have excellent attention to detail and will be sure to maintain a clean, neat, and easy-to-shop environment on the floor, and stock area.
  • Finally, state you are goal-oriented and will push yourself to exceed sales expectations.

3. How would you greet and approach a customer who enters the store?

  • Say you would greet the customer with a smile and say hello. Then you would ask what they are looking for today. Based on the customer’s response, say you would either guide them to the right section or product or let them browse the store at their own pace.

4. How would you define excellent customer service?

  • The staff is friendly and always willing to help the customer find her needs.
  • Customers are not waiting in line for long periods at checkout.
  • The store has adequate inventory.

5. What steps would you take to ensure that the store maintains a clean and organized appearance throughout the day?

  • Say you would always look for ways to keep the store clean when you are not dealing with a customer. In addition to keeping the store clean, you would ensure that the inventory is well-stocked and organized.

6. Can you name a time when you went above and beyond for a customer? 

Customers love it when you go above and beyond for them, which, in turn, generates more business. Try to think of a time when you went above and beyond for a customer.

Here are two examples

  1. When I was a server at a restaurant, we did not have a particular dessert. Luckily, the restaurant next door had it, and I was able to get it for them
  2. In my last job, I worked at a fast-food chain, and one day, there was a senior citizen at the restaurant who had finished his meal. It started to rain, and he was worried as he did not have an umbrella. Luckily, I had one, so I walked him to his car, sheltering him from the rain.
