About Kwik Trip

  • Kwik Trip is a chain of convenience stores located throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. The retail chain is branded as Kwik Star in Iowa and Illinois.
  • The retailer was founded in 1965.
  • Glazers Donuts and the hot spot (ready to go meals) was introduced in 2003.
  • Kwik Rewards is its loyalty program.
  • In 2019, the retailer launched fresh fried chicken in its stores.
  • In 2020, Kwik Trip introduced take-home meals.

5. What is your greatest weakness?

6. How do you feel about standing for long periods of time?

  • Most jobs in restaurants will require you to work on your feet for long periods of time. If possible, tell the interviewer you do not have a problem with this. Try to wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes with low heels, maintain good posture, and stay hydrated.

7. Why did you leave your last job?

The only answer to this question is to say that you have learned all you can from your last job and are looking for new opportunities to learn and grow in your career.

Here is a recommended answer:

“I enjoyed my last job, however, I felt growth was minimal and I was no longer learning. I want to explore new challenges”.  

Don’t Say

  • Anything negative about your former boss/employer.
  • Complaints about the salary.
  • You left on bad terms.

8. How did you find this job?

  • Interviewers ask this question because they want to hire someone who is specific in their job hunt. Basically, employers want to hire someone who knows what they want. Therefore, state you have been actively monitoring jobs on the company’s website. Note you have to be honest when answering this question as they may already know how you applied for this position.

9. How would you define excellent customer service?

  • The staff is friendly and always willing to help the customer find her needs.
  • Customers are not waiting in line for long periods at checkout.
  • The store has adequate inventory.

10. Tell us about a time you went above and beyond for a customer?

Customers love it when you go above and beyond for them, which, in turn, generates more business. Try to think of a time when you went above and beyond for a customer.

Here are two examples

  1. When I was a server at a restaurant, we did not have a particular dessert. Luckily, the restaurant next door had it, and I was able to get it for them
  2. In my last job, I worked at a fast-food chain, and one day, there was a senior citizen at the restaurant who had finished his meal. It started to rain, and he was worried as he did not have an umbrella. Luckily, I had one, so I walked him to his car, sheltering him from the rain.

11. How would you deal with a difficult customer?

  • Listen and let the customer vent.
  • Show the customer you care.
  • Don’t blame the customer or the company.
  • Try to solve the problem or find someone who can.
  • Don’t make promises you can’t keep.

12. How was your attendance in your last job?

Kwik Trip Open Interviews

  • An open interview is where you apply in person and they interview you on the spot. If you study the questions above and dress well you will do fine. 

Does Kwik Trip Drug Test

  • The majority of job descriptions at Kwik Trip do not state they drug test.  At the time of this writing only one job, “Delivery Assistant/CDL Driver Trainee” states they may do a drug screen. 
  • Several applicants on indeed.com report that Kwik Trip does test its applicants. Many state they drug test on initial hire only.
