3. Why do you want to work at the GAP?

Possible Answers are

  • Say you enjoy the product and the service you get at the Gap and because of this, you would be proud to represent them.
  • Say you love fashion and helping others feel fashionable, and a career at GAP would allow you to do both.
  • State you want to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mention you want a job that keeps you active.

4. What is your greatest weakness?

Don’t Say

  • You don’t have a weakness.
  • You can’t think of a weakness.
  • Something unrelated to the job. 
  • Do not state a weakness that is critical for the job.

  • Something related to the job but not a deal breaker.

5. What is your greatest strength?

  • The best way to respond to this question is to describe the skills and experience you have that directly correlate with the job you are applying for. Therefore, review the job description and reassure the interviewer that you have the experience and skills to do the job.

6. What hours can you work?

  • Try and be flexible when answering this question. The more relaxed you are with your hours, the better your chance of landing the job.
  • State that you understand if you need to work on weekends and holidays. 

7. Why did you leave your last job?

The only answer to this question is to say that you have learned all you can from your last job and are looking for new opportunities to learn and grow in your career.

Here is a recommended answer:

“I enjoyed my last job, however, I felt growth was minimal and I was no longer learning. I want to explore new challenges”.  

Don’t Say

  • Anything negative about your former boss/employer.
  • Complaints about the salary.
  • You left on bad terms.

8. Why is there a gap in your resume?

  • Honesty is the best approach when answering this question. Being honest about your situation gives the employer a sense of integrity and confidence.

9. How did you find this job?

  • Interviewers ask this question because they want to hire someone who is specific in their job hunt. Basically, employers want to hire someone who knows what they want. Therefore, state you have been actively monitoring jobs on the company’s website. Note you have to be honest when answering this question as they may already know how you applied for this position.

10. What do you like most about your current or last job?

  • Unfortunately, this can be a trick question as they may be looking for things you didn’t like in your last job.
  • The best answer is to say that you enjoyed everything about your last job, however, you feel that you have learned all you can in that role and are now looking for new challenges.

11. How was the attendance in your last job?

  • Honesty is your best approach when answering this question as the interviewer may check your references.
  • Emphasize that you understand the importance of starting your shift on time.

12. How would you define excellent customer service?

  • The staff is friendly and always willing to help the customer find her needs.
  • Customers are not waiting in line for long periods at checkout.
  • The store has adequate inventory.

13. How would you deal with an upset customer?

  • Listen and let the customer vent.
  • Show the customer you care.
  • Don’t blame the customer or the company.
  • Try to solve the problem or find someone who can.
  • Don’t make promises you can’t keep.

14. If you could be one animal what would it be?

When you state what animal you would be, make sure to state why.
